News India Live, Digital Desk: ‘Garuda Purana’ has special importance among the 18 Puranas of Hindu religion. It is a mistake to consider it a book to be read only after death, rather it is the right path to live life and a mirror of the fruits of one’s actions. In Garuda Purana, Lord Vishnu has explained in detail to his vehicle bird king Garuda that which deeds of a human being take him to heaven and which misdeeds throw him into the blazing fire of hell. If you too are committing mistakes unknowingly, then your soul will tremble after knowing about these punishments of Yamalok.

‘Raurav’ hell for those who lie and cheat According to Garuda Purana, persons who lie to others for their own selfishness or indulge in adulteration and fraud in business get a place in ‘Raurav’ hell. Here the sinner is forced to walk under the scorching sun and hot sand. It is clear in the scriptures that a person who violates the rights of others never finds peace after death and has to bear the harsh blows of Yamdoots.

Those who insult women and commit injustice get the harshest punishment. In Garuda Purana, respect for women has been kept paramount. For those men who cast an evil eye on another woman or insult women, ‘Tamisra’ opens the door to hell. Here the sinner is kept in dark cells and punished with hot iron rods. Apart from this, those who torture animals and kill innocent people are thrown into a cauldron of boiling oil, which has been called ‘Kumbhipaka’ hell.

Only the path of righteousness and good deeds will save us from the punishment of Yamraj. Lord Vishnu says that the journey of the soul after death depends on its deeds. The souls who do charity, service to elders and follow the path of truth do not have to suffer the hardships of Yamalok. Garuda Purana warns us that the body is mortal but deeds are immortal. Therefore, improving your conduct in time is the only way to escape from the gates of hell.
