IMD Heavy Rain Forecast 27 April 2026: There is a very good and comforting news for crores of people who are suffering from the fire raining from the sky and the scorching heat in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of major relief amid the severe heatwave. According to the Meteorological Department, a new and very active Western Disturbance and Cyclonic Circulation is going to hit within the next 24 to 48 hours. Due to its effect, the weather will suddenly change in 25 states of the country and strong storm, lightning and heavy rain will be seen. From April 29, a major drop in temperature by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius will be recorded in North-West India.

Rain and storm alert issued in these 25 states

According to the latest report of IMD, between April 27 and May 2, the weather patterns will completely change in a large part of the country. The states where rain, storm and hailstorm alerts have been issued mainly include:

Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi (NCR), Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Telangana.

Snowfall on the mountains and dust storm in the plains

The impact of this disturbance will be most visible in the weather of North-West India.

Condition of hill states: There is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between April 28 and May 2. Apart from this, an alert has also been issued for hailstorm in these hilly states on 28th and 29th April.

Condition of plain states: Talking about the plains, strong dust storms will start blowing in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh from the night of 27th April and the period of rain along with thunder and lightning will start. At the same time, a warning has been given of bad weather in Rajasthan from 26 to 29 April.

Northeast and East India: Heavy rain and gusty winds up to 70 km/h

There is an alert of torrential rain in northeastern states like Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh from April 27 to 30. At the same time, people of West Bengal and Bihar have been advised to take special precautions, because there is a possibility of ‘thundersquall’ (strong storm) between April 26 and 28 with a storm speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour. Apart from this, rain and thundershowers will continue in Jharkhand and Odisha till May 2.

Badra will rain in South and Central India also

There is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala, South India between April 29 and May 1. Along with this, there may be light to moderate rain in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh of Central India between April 27 and 30 and there is also an alert of lightning during this period.

Temperature will drop up to 5 degrees, special warning from weather department

People suffering from scorching heat and heat wave are going to get big relief from April 29. According to the Meteorological Department, the mercury will come down by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in north-west India. At the same time, in the areas of Eastern India and Maharashtra, there will be a decrease of 2 to 3 degrees in temperature between April 27 and May 1. However, the Meteorological Department has made it clear that before the relief, heat wave and hot night conditions will persist in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Delhi till April 27. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the general public not to take shelter under trees or electric poles during severe storms and lightning and to stay in safe places.
