News India Live, Digital Desk: Once again a round of controversial statements has started regarding the holy Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand. Hyderabad’s famous and firebrand MLA T Raja Singh has issued a video message making serious allegations like ‘spit jihad’ and ‘business jihad’. The MLA has directly demanded that to maintain the sanctity of Devbhoomi, there should be a complete ban on business by non-Hindus on the Chardham Yatra route. After his statement, debate has erupted from social media to political circles.

What is the whole controversy of ‘Spit Jihad’?

In fact, for the last few days, some such videos had gone viral on social media, in which incidents of spitting in food items had allegedly come to light. Citing these incidents, T Raja Singh said that Chardham Yatra is the center of faith of Hindus and such actions will not be tolerated here. He alleged that an attempt was being made to hurt and impure the faith of Hindus under a specific conspiracy, which he termed ‘Spit Jihad’.

Questions raised on ‘Business Jihad’

MLA T Raja Singh did not stop here, he raised the issue of ‘Business Jihad’ and said that all the shops or dhabas on the Chardham Yatra route should be operated only by the people who believe in Sanatan Dharma. His argument is that outsiders and non-Sanatani people come there for economic benefits but their faith is not attached to that place. He has demanded from the Uttarakhand government that strict verification of all the servicemen and shopkeepers working on the Yatra route should be done.

Emphasis on the role of government and administration

The MLA said in his statement that Uttarakhand is ‘Devbhoomi’ and it is the responsibility of the government for its safety and sanctity. He urged Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to intervene in the matter and ensure that only those who respect the beliefs of Hindu religion do business in Chardham. According to T Raja, if this is not done then both the safety and faith of the devotees may be in danger in future.

Political tension may increase

This statement of T Raja Singh has come at a time when Chardham Yatra is at its peak and security agencies are already on alert. Opposition parties and some social organizations have termed this statement as spreading hatred, while many Hindu organizations are supporting T Raja’s demands. Now it remains to be seen what stand the Uttarakhand administration takes on this sensitive matter.
