News India Live, Digital Desk: Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis held an important review meeting with senior officials of the Home Department on Saturday. In this meeting, the law and order of the state, the growing drugs network and recently came under discussion. Ashok Kharat (Nashik Godman Case) Strict instructions have been given regarding the matter. Fadnavis has made it clear that no influential person will be spared in matters like crime and conversion.

Ashok Kharat case: ED raid and SIT investigation intensified

In the meeting, the ongoing action against Nashik’s self-proclaimed ‘religious leader’ and astrologer Ashok Kharat was reviewed. It is noteworthy that Kharat faces serious allegations of sexual exploitation, extortion and religious manipulation.

ED action: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has again raided Kharat’s Nashik locations on Friday (April 17). So far, Rs 42 lakh in cash and assets worth Rs 2.4 crore have been frozen.

Formation of SIT: The state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter in depth. The Chief Minister has directed that Kharat’s ‘economic empire’ and political contacts should be thoroughly investigated.

‘Zero tolerance’ against drugs and Operation Thunder

Chief Minister Fadnavis to curb the growing drug trade ‘Operation Thunder’ Reviewed. He has instructed the police department to break the ‘forward and backward’ links of the drugs supply chain and send the kingpins behind bars. Fadnavis said that the policy of ‘zero tolerance’ against drugs is in force in the state and action will also be taken against police officers who are lax in it.

Strict guard on anti-conversion law

Recently passed by Maharashtra Assembly ‘Maharashtra Religious Freedom Bill 2026’ There was also discussion regarding the implementation. The Chief Minister said that in cases of fraud, luring or forced conversion, the police have been ordered to immediately register FIR. Under the new law, there is a provision of punishment of 7 to 10 years for such crimes. Fadnavis asked officials to ensure that this law is not misused but the culprits are given strict punishment.

Chief Minister’s eye on high-profile cases

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister also took cognizance of videos and photographs that claim links between Ashok Kharat and some politicians. Fadnavis said bluntly, “No matter how big the face is, the law is equal for everyone.” He has ordered the Home Department to submit a progress report on these major cases within the next 15 days.
