News India Live, Digital Desk: Thick and shiny hair not only enhances your beauty, but is also a sign of your healthy body. Due to today’s busy life, pollution and bad eating habits, hair fall and dryness have become a common problem. Hair experts believe that instead of expensive hair products available in the market, if we use natural oils properly, hair can be transformed.

1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been the favorite of Indian households for centuries and there are solid scientific reasons behind it.

Benefit: It penetrates deep into the hair shaft and reduces protein loss.

Use: Make it slightly lukewarm and massage it on the scalp. It is best in removing dandruff and providing moisture to the hair.

2. Castor Oil

If your hair is very thin or is falling rapidly, then castor oil is no less than a boon.

Benefit: It contains ricinoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids, which increase blood circulation in the scalp.

Tip: This oil is quite thick, so always apply it by mixing it with coconut or almond oil.

3. Olive Oil

Olive oil is considered the best ‘conditioner’ for dry and lifeless hair.

Benefit: It is rich in Vitamin-E and antioxidants. It seals the outer layer (cuticles) of the hair, making the hair look soft and shiny.

Use: To eliminate the problem of split ends, apply it on the ends of the hair.

4. Almond Oil

Almond oil is very effective for hair strength.

Benefit: It contains high amounts of Vitamin E and Magnesium. It prevents hair breakage and helps in their growth.

USP: This oil is very light (non-sticky), so after applying it you can easily go out.

5. Onion Oil

Onion oil has become an essential part of the hair care routine in recent years.

Benefit: The sulfur present in onion helps in hair regrowth and prevents premature graying of hair.

Use: Applying it on the roots twice a week reduces hair fall to a great extent.

Expert Tip: Right way to apply oil

Heat lightly: Always make the oil lukewarm using the ‘double boiler’ method. Hot oil helps in opening the pores of the scalp.

Massage time: Just applying oil is not enough. Massage in circular motion with finger tips for 10-15 minutes.

Leave overnight: For best results, leave the oil overnight and wash off with mild shampoo the next morning.

Do not apply too much oil: Applying too much oil requires more shampoo to clean it, which can make the hair more dry.
