News India Live, Digital Desk: The case of ‘illegal salary withdrawal’ worth crores of rupees in Jharkhand Police Department has shaken the foundation of the department. After financial embezzlement came to light in Bokaro and Hazaribagh, the state’s DGP Tadasha Mishra Has launched a decisive war against corruption. The DGP issued an unprecedented order on Saturday (April 11, 2026) in all districts and all police units. 10 years (2016-2026) Instructions have been given for a detailed investigation of salary payment and withdrawal.

1. Scope of investigation: From Bokaro and Hazaribagh to the entire state

This action has been taken after the sensational revelation in Bokaro district, in which an accountant of the police department was arrested on charges of illegal withdrawal of crores of rupees.

Method of embezzlement: The accused had withdrawn the salary amount from fake bank accounts and in the names of dead or retired policemen and transferred it to personal accounts.

Detailed Audit: Now, on the orders of the DGP, the SPs of all the districts, Railway Police and the Accounts Branch of the Police Headquarters will have to submit ‘salary payment data’ of the last decade.

2. Strict instructions from DGP: “The guilty will not be spared”

DGP Tadasha Mishra has clarified that this is not just an administrative investigation but a campaign of financial cleansing.

Appointment of Nodal Officer: For this massive investigation, a special audit team is being formed under the supervision of an IG level officer.

Fix accountability: If financial irregularities are found in any district, not only the clerk but also the concerned Drawing and Disbursement Officer (DDO) will be held accountable.

3. Suspense: Is there conflict on the appointment of DGP also?

While on one hand the DGP is opening a front against corruption, on the other hand there is a legal tussle between the Raj Bhavan, the Central Government and the UPSC regarding his appointment.

Appointment dispute: UPSC and the Home Ministry had raised questions over the appointment of Tadasha Mishra to the post of DGP as ‘against the rules’ as she was made the regular DGP by giving her a two-year extension just a day before her retirement.

However, the state government considers this appointment to be completely constitutional and under this jurisdiction the DGP is currently taking important decisions of police administration.

4. Panic among policemen

The order of 10-year salary check has created panic among the babus and accountants of the police department, who have been stuck in the same seat for years. According to sources, there is a race in many districts to ‘update’ old records.

Information for parents and youth:

This investigation will not affect those policemen whose salary records are correct. This action is being taken only to stop corruption and looting of government treasury.
