UK-US military officials: Despite strong opposition and warnings from India, America and Britain are continuously interfering in the Kashmir issue. Both countries have repeatedly crossed the red line set by India. Experts believe that the interference of western countries in India's internal affairs may increase further. The reason to believe this is the recent visit of British and American military personnel to Gilgit-Baltistan. This area is occupied by Pakistan but India continues to consider it as its part. In such a situation, the visit of military officers of these two countries to this area has caused a massive reaction in India.
Brigadier Paul Hayhurst, defense adviser to the British High Commissioner in Islamabad, posted photographs of himself and a US Air Force officer on the UK Defense in Pakistan account on Thursday. After these pictures surfaced, Indian social media users reacted strongly. Indian social media users described it as an attempt by the British authorities to violate India's sovereignty.
India has already protested in January
In January this year, the Indian Foreign Ministry had lodged a strong protest with the British government regarding the visit of the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The Foreign Ministry told British officials that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India. In such a situation, such violation of India's sovereignty and territorial integrity cannot be accepted. Similarly, in October last year also, India had expressed strong objection to the visit of US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blom to PoK.
Anil Trigunayat, who is the Indian ambassador to Jordan, Libya and Malta, said such visits by British officials show New Delhi's lack of sensitivity towards internal affairs. The visit exposed the hypocrisy of the UK government, which is negotiating a free trade agreement (FTA) with India. He said that the imperialist British government is responsible for the partition of India and the entire Kashmir dispute but they should understand that the entire Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and such a visit will only sour bilateral relations.
America and Britain are creating trouble for India
Indian Navy veteran and strategic affairs expert Commodore Sheshadri Vasan said India faces two border threats in geopolitics. It is widely accepted in Indian government and military circles that China poses a threat because of the border dispute with New Delhi. On the other hand there are so-called partners like America and Britain. They are working quietly to keep their options open regarding India. They are trying to use Pakistan to stop the rising India.
Vasan said that America and Britain will try to put pressure on India through Kashmir issue. India will have to face this challenge as its global stature continues to grow. A week after inviting Kashmiri activists for an Iftar party at the US Embassy in India, its military officials have visited Gilgit-Baltistan. Army veterans and a state spokesperson of the BJP described the invitation to Kashmiri activists as crossing the 'red line' set by India as they are protesting the Narendra Modi government's decision to abrogate Article 370 in Kashmir.
