Prayagraj: Vindhya Expressway is an ambitious project in the direction of making Uttar Pradesh an expressway hub, but at present its survey work remains a major hurdle in the path of land acquisition. Due to non-availability of a suitable agency for the survey, the process of land acquisition is not starting in Prayagraj and other related districts.
Regarding this important issue and the slow pace of the project, a high-level meeting is proposed under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister in Lucknow on April 20, in which the future strategy will be decided.
Route and importance of Vindhya Expressway
being built from Meerut to Prayagraj Ganga Expressway There is a proposal to connect it with Vindhya Expressway. This connection will directly connect East, West and Madhyanchal of Uttar Pradesh to the Vindhya region.
Route Map: This expressway starts from Ganga Expressway in Prayagraj. Jaunpur, Bhadohi, Varanasi, Chandauli and Mirzapur While happening Sonbhadra Will go till.
Connectivity: Due to its construction, only the people of Sonbhadra and Chandauli 8 to 9 hours Will be able to reach Delhi-NCR. Besides, the journey to Madhya Pradesh (Singrauli, Sidhi), Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh will also become easier.
Why is the work stuck?
Despite the instructions of the State Transformation Commission, the progress report in Prayagraj district is currently ‘zero’. The main reasons for this are as follows:
Lack of survey agency: No agency has been finalized yet to prepare the layout plan. Without the agency, soil testing, alignment and determination of the exact route is not possible.
Delay in land acquisition: Due to the survey not being completed, the tehsils and villages whose land is to be taken have not been identified. The committee formed by District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has confirmed this obstacle.
Responsibility of UPEDA: The responsibility of construction of this project is given to Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority.UPEIDA), which is targeted to be completed in 3 years.
Project in Chief Minister’s ‘Priority List’
Vindhya Expressway is included in the dream projects of the Chief Minister. Its importance can be gauged from the fact that:
review meeting: of every month third monday The Chief Minister himself reviews its progress.
High-level accountability: For this, accountability has been fixed under the ‘Statewide Monitoring, Evaluation and Key Projects Supervision’ (SMART) system.
April 20 meeting: In this meeting, ADM level officers will have to present a concrete report on the land acquisition plan and appointment of survey agency.
According to administrative sources, the survey work is expected to accelerate after the meeting on April 20, so that the tender process can be started as soon as possible and Vindhya region can be connected to the mainstream of development.
