The 5 Sins of Dhritarashtra
Extreme Nepotism: Dhritarashtra’s biggest sin was supporting every wrong thing of his son Duryodhana. He never stopped Duryodhana’s jealousy and hatred, but instigated him against the Pandavas.
Draupadi’s disrobing: When Kulvadhu Draupadi was being insulted in the Kuru Sabha, Dhritarashtra was present there. As a king and father-in-law, he had the power to stop Dushasana, but he remained silent. This is considered his most unforgivable crime.
Violation of Justice: When Yudhishthir was defeated in gambling by deceit, Dhritarashtra considered it a part of the game and allowed the Pandavas to snatch their kingdom. He maintained silence on the injustice done to Dharamraj.
Jealousy towards Pandu: Dhritarashtra always had this regret in his mind that despite growing up, he could not become a king because he was blind. This jealousy later turned into hatred towards the Pandavas.
Attempt to kill Bhima: When the Pandavas came to meet Dhritarashtra after the war was over, they tried to crush Bhima with their iron-like arms in the pretext of embracing him. Due to Krishna’s cleverness, an iron idol was placed in place of Bhima, which was shattered by Dhritarashtra.
How did Dhritarashtra end? (The End of Dhritarashtra)
Dhritarashtra remained in Hastinapur for 15 years after the Mahabharata war, but being saddened by Bhima’s taunts, he decided to go to the forest.
Renunciation: with them Gandhari, Kunti, Vidur and Sanjay also went to the forest. He started doing penance at Sapta Source near Haridwar.
Forest Fire: One day a huge fire broke out in the forest. Dhritarashtra, Gandhari and Kunti were quite old at that time and were unable to run away.
