News India Live, Digital Desk: Whenever we see a judge, a very serious picture is formed in our mind. Black coat, seriousness on the face, hammer in hand and thick law books. We feel that they will not have time for emotions or fun.
But, the reality is very different from this. Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Suryakant Recently he has said something which is very important not only for the legal experts but also for the common working people. Speaking at the inauguration of a cricket tournament, he admitted that “The job of judges is very stressful.”
Judge Giri does not have a 10 to 5 job
The CJI explained in very simple words that the job of the judiciary is not just to sit in the court at 10 in the morning and get up at 4 in the evening. Behind this is mental pressure of hours of study, research and taking big decisions. One wrong decision can change one’s life, so the mind is always on “alert mode”.
He said that under this hustle and bustle and burden of files, judges and lawyers often neglect their own health and mental peace.
Then what is its treatment?
CJI Surya Kant has given a very sweet treatment for this. Sports and recreational activities.
He advised lawyers and judges that work is not everything in life. Sometimes it is important to take off your coat and go out into the field, play cricket or laugh and talk with friends.
He said, “These sports give us relief from stress. When you are on the field, you are not a judge or a lawyer, you are just a player. It acts as a tonic for both physical and mental health.”
No senior-junior in the field
There really is a point in this. While there is strict adherence to protocol and seniority in the courtroom, the playing field brings everyone on an equal footing. When a junior lawyer outs his senior or a judge, or plays in a team with them, the relationship that is formed goes beyond the files.
lesson for us all
This statement of CJI Saheb is not just for the judges, but for all of us. Whether you are in corporate, business or a student, work pressure is everywhere. But if you don’t recharge yourself, don’t enjoy a little, you will burn out.
So if the Chief Justice of the country also believes that “it is necessary to play”, then why are you waiting? This Sunday, close your laptop and smile a little!
