Delhi-NCR be careful! Be prepared to face ‘double attack’ of cold and fog, air becomes poisonous

The mild pink cold that was being experienced in Delhi-NCR for the last few days is now going to turn into sharp and stinging cold. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning that from November 14, the weather will take a severe turn and the real phase of severe winter will begin in North India. The temperature in the morning, evening and night is already falling, but from next week the ‘double attack’ of cold and fog is going to increase the problems of the people.

Difficulty in breathing: suffocating in poisonous air

While on one hand the cold is increasing, on the other hand the level of pollution in Delhi-NCR remains life-threatening. The air in most cities is in the ‘poor’ to ‘severe’ category, making it difficult for people to breathe.

  • Ghaziabad and Greater Noida worst: The situation is most worrying here, where AQI has reached ‘severe’ levels of 441 and 425.
  • Delhi and Noida: Delhi’s AQI has been recorded at 396 and Noida’s at 386, which is in the ‘very poor’ category.
  • Gurgaon: Here too the air quality was ‘very poor’ and AQI was recorded at 340.

IMD’s alert: Shivering cold will start now

According to the Meteorological Department, between November 14 and 16, strong and icy winds will blow at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour in Delhi-NCR, which will increase the chill manifold. Along with this, there is also a possibility of dense fog in the morning from 14 to 19 November. In such a situation, visibility on the road will be significantly reduced, so drivers will need to take special care.

This icy wind and dense fog together will bring a huge drop in temperature, which will further increase the shivering in the morning and evening.

How much will the mercury drop?

The Meteorological Department estimates that the temperature of Delhi-NCR will drop rapidly next week.

  • Minimum Temperature: Can drop to 8 to 9 degrees Celsius.
  • Maximum Temperature: It will be between 23 to 24 degrees Celsius.

This time the nights are going to be very cold, so people are advised to make preparations from now with warm clothes, heaters and other measures to avoid cold. Weather experts also say that this year’s winter may be more severe than last year.
