This major action was taken in Baragai Mauza of Hehal area, where about 22 acres of government land was freed from encroachment. People had illegally occupied this land and built permanent houses and huts.

Why did this action happen?

Actually, this entire matter is related to illegal occupation of government land. The 22 acres of land on which this action was taken is recorded as ‘Non-Majrua’ land in the government records. This means that this land belongs to the government and no private construction can be done on it.

Action taken on the orders of the High Court

When this matter reached Jharkhand High Court, the court took a strict stance on it. The High Court ordered the district administration to immediately free this government land from encroachment. Following this order of the court, the district administration took this major action.

At around 11 am, the administration team led by Sadar CO and several magistrates reached the spot along with the police force. At first people tried to protest against it, but they could not stand it in front of the heavy police force. After this, bulldozers started demolishing illegally built houses.

Many families have become homeless due to this action. People say that they had bought this land by paying money and they did not know that it was government owned. He alleges that he was not given any prior information from the administration. At the same time, the administration says that they have taken action as per the law.
