They wonder how the expenses of her education and marriage will be met. To change this thinking and secure the future of daughters, the government has started a very good scheme, named Balika Samridhi Yojana,

This scheme is like a boon for those poor families who find it difficult to educate their daughters due to financial constraints. Let us know what this scheme is and how you can avail it for your daughter.

What is Balika Samriddhi Yojana?

This is a scheme of the Central Government, whose main objective is to provide financial assistance to daughters born in families living below the poverty line (BPL). This scheme is for girls born on or after 15 August 1997. Its objective is to promote the education of girls, prevent their early marriage and improve their status in the society.

What are the benefits available in this scheme?

Under this scheme, the government sends money directly to the bank account of the daughter for her education from birth till her 10th class.

  1. Financial assistance received at birth:
    • At the time of birth of a daughter, her mother is given an amount of Rs 500 by the government.
  2. Annual scholarship for studies:
    • When the daughter starts school, she gets a scholarship for her studies every year, which is as follows:
      • From class 1 to 3: ₹300 per year
      • In class 4: ₹500
      • In class 5: ₹600
      • In class 6 and 7: ₹700 per year
      • In class 8: ₹800
      • In class 9 and 10: ₹1,000 per year

Who can take benefit of this scheme? (Ability)

  • Only families falling in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category can avail the benefit of this scheme.
  • This scheme is for daughters born on or after 15 August 1997.
  • Only two daughters of a family can get the benefit of this scheme.

How to apply?

It is very easy to apply for this scheme. You don’t need to go online anywhere, it is completely offline.

  • If you live in a village: So you can go to your nearest Anganwadi center and fill this form.
  • If you live in a city: So you can take this form from any government health center and submit it there.

Documents required for application:

You need to carry some important documents while filling the form:

  • Birth Certificate of daughter
  • Address Proof of Parents
  • Identity Proof of parents (like Aadhar Card, Voter ID)
  • Family’s BPL card or ration card
  • Photocopy of bank account passbook

a necessary condition

The entire amount (scholarship and interest) received under this scheme is given to the daughter only after she completes 18 years of age. But for this the condition is that the girl should not get married till the age of 18 years. If marriage takes place before 18 years of age, he/she will not get scholarship money.

This scheme not only ensures the education of daughters, but is also a big step towards making them economically strong.
