News India Live, Digital Desk: Big Update From IRCTC : There is a very important news for those traveling by train. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has made an important change in the ticket booking rules, which will directly impact millions of passengers booking tickets online. Railways has taken this step to crack down on ticket brokers and make the ticket booking process more transparent.
What is the new rule?
According to the new rule of IRCTC, now to book reservation ticket between 8 am to 10 am, it is necessary to verify your IRCTC account with Aadhaar. This new rule has been implemented from October 28, 2025. This clearly means that if your account is not linked to Aadhaar, you will not be able to buy tickets online during these two hours of the morning, which are the busiest time for booking.
Why was this rule needed?
The time from 8 am to 10 am is the peak time for booking Tatkal tickets and many other important trains. During this time, the demand for tickets skyrockets. Railways believes that ticket brokers and fake users take advantage of this time to book tickets in large numbers, making it difficult for common passengers to get confirmed tickets. Making Aadhaar verification mandatory will ensure that only genuine passengers are booking tickets during this period.
What will be the effect on you?
- If your account is linked to Aadhaar: So you don’t need to worry. Like before, you will be able to book tickets without any interruption between 8 am to 10 am.
- If your account is not linked to Aadhaar: So you will not be able to book tickets during this peak time. You will get the option to book tickets only after 10 am.
Let us tell you that the rule of Aadhaar verification is already in force for Tatkal ticket booking.
How to link IRCTC account to Aadhaar?
If you have not yet verified your IRCTC profile with Aadhaar, you can do it by following the easy steps given below:
- First of all, go to the official website of IRCTC (irctc.co.in) and log in.
- Go to ‘My Account’ section and select the option of ‘Aadhaar KYC’.
