This gradually leads to arthritis, swelling and severe pain in the joints. So, know how to control it this season…

How to control uric acid in winter?

Drink plenty of water: Keep your body hydrated to control uric acid levels in winter. Drink two and a half to three liters of lukewarm water throughout the day. This helps in removing toxic substances from the body.

Eat fruits rich in Vitamin C: To ensure that the kidneys filter out uric acid completely, include vitamin C-rich fruits like orange, lemon, amla and grapes in your diet. Vitamin C helps in reducing uric acid.

Eliminate purines from your diet : To protect yourself from uric acid, reduce your intake of foods rich in purines and proteins. Limit your intake of red meat, organ meats and some seafood, as these are high in purines. Also, limit your intake of purine-rich foods like leafy vegetables, grains and bananas.

Do regular exercise: Yoga and pranayam are very beneficial in reducing uric acid. These exercises help control uric acid levels by flushing out toxins from the body, improving kidney function and increasing metabolism.

Avoid alcohol: Avoid alcohol, especially beer… as it contains high amounts of purines, which increase uric acid levels. Therefore, it should be avoided completely.
