On Thursday, in broad daylight, protesting parents and NGO members reached CSMT with more than 1500 children and made them sit on the road in a human chain. Within minutes of the children sitting on the road, miles long queues of vehicles formed on the main roads connecting South Mumbai. Thousands of people commuting to office remained stuck in this jam for hours.
Police took charge
As soon as the police got the news of this huge demonstration, a large number of police forces immediately reached the spot. The police first tried to remove the children from the road by talking to the organizers, but when they did not agree, the police had to show mild strictness. The police detained many protesters and with great difficulty normalized the traffic by removing the children from the road.
