News India Live, Digital Desk: There is a possibility of a new cyclonic storm ‘Montha’ forming in the Bay of Bengal, due to which the Meteorological Department has issued a warning for many states of Eastern India. This cyclone may become active by October 27 and due to its impact, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Odisha and West Bengal. The Meteorological Department says that between October 28 and 30, there may be torrential rains with strong winds in the coastal areas of these two states.

The low pressure area formed in the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal is expected to move west-northwestwards. This system may take the form of a cyclonic storm by October 27, after which its impact will start becoming visible.

These states will be affected the most

According to the Meteorological Department, this cyclonic storm is likely to have the greatest impact on Odisha and West Bengal. Yellow alert has been issued in 21 districts of Odisha for Saturday and Sunday, which has been extended to the entire state on Monday. Similarly, the southern districts of West Bengal, including North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Jhargram and Howrah, are likely to receive heavy rain between October 28 and 30. Kolkata and Hooghly may also experience thunderstorms on October 28.

Cold will increase in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

The impact of this seasonal change will not be limited to Odisha and West Bengal only. The Meteorological Department has predicted that due to this, there may be a huge drop in the temperature of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, due to which the outbreak of cold may increase prematurely. A new wave of cold may start in these areas, so people have been advised to remain alert.

The Meteorological Department is continuously monitoring this cyclonic storm and is sharing necessary information from time to time. People living in coastal areas and fishermen have been advised to take special precautions and not go near the sea. The government machinery has also been put on alert to deal with any emergency.
