New Delhi: The Supreme Court has imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the Rajasthan government in the case of poor labourers. He also criticized the government for harassing the workers by running a long case against them. The workers were convicted by the Labor Court in 2001. However, an appeal was made against this in the court by the state government. In which 22 years passed and the workers remained deprived of benefits, due to which the Supreme Court imposed this fine on the state government.
Due to the arguments of the state government, the workers also had to file their reply in the court, the matter went from the High Court to the Supreme Court. During the hearing on the state government's application, Supreme Court judge Abhay S. Oka and Ujjwal Bhuiyan expressed their displeasure with the state government and the petition was rejected. Although the Labor Court order was upheld by the High Court, the state government took the case to the Supreme Court. Although the High Court also asked to implement the Labor Court order, the state government appealed to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court reprimanded the state government and said that you have deprived the poor laborers of benefits for 22 years, not only this but have also forced these laborers to file a petition in the court by appealing against the order of the Labor Court. . Along with this, the Supreme Court upheld the 2001 order of the Labor Court and imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on the Rajasthan government.
The applicant laborers were ordered to pay the fine amount within four weeks.
Also, the workers were asked to submit the proof of payment of this amount to the Supreme Court within six weeks.
