News India Live, Digital Desk: Government Scheme: The festive season is close, and in such a situation, the government’s free ration scheme is a big support for many poor families. But this time in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, about 1.25 lakh people will not get the benefit of this scheme. If your name is also in this list, then you may have to spend money for wheat and rice this month.
This is not a sudden decision taken. The government was asking the ration card holders to complete an important work for the last several months, but many people did not take it seriously. Now that the last date has passed, the department has started action under the rules.
Why the name of these 1.25 lakh people cut?
The biggest and only reason for the ban on the ration of these beneficiaries is E-Kyc Failure to Complete
The government has made E-KYC (Electronic No Your Customer) compulsory for all ration card holders to bring transparency in the ration distribution system and prevent fraud. Its purpose is to ensure that the benefit of the scheme reaches the right and eligible person. Under this, all the members recorded in the ration card have to verify their identity through their Aadhaar card.
Despite the last date being extended several times in Lucknow, about 1.25 lakh beneficiaries did not get their E-KYC done. 31 August 2025 was its last date. Those who did not complete this process till this date, their names have been temporarily removed from the list of ration distribution of September.
Will you never get ration now?
If your name is also included in this list then there is no need to panic. The government has not canceled your ration card forever.
- There is still a chance: According to the Food and Logistics Department, this ban has been imposed for three months at the moment. If a beneficiary means that his E-KYC is completed in the meantime, then his ration will be resumed.
- How to get E-KYC: You can go to any government ration shop (Kotedar) close to you and get your biometric verification through E-POS machine. For this, you have to take your Aadhaar card with you.
- They have got discounts: This process has given exemption to children under the age of only 5 years. Apart from this, those who are elderly or seriously ill people and whose biometric verification is failing, can meet their regional food officer and apply for an alternative arrangement.
This step of the government would give a clear message that now it will be mandatory to follow the rules to take advantage of government schemes. If you are also taking advantage of the free ration scheme, then immediately check whether the e-Kyc of you and all your family members is complete or not, so that you do not have to face any problem in future.
