Health services in Bihar in a bad state: Heavy shortage of doctors in SKMCH, patients’ lives in danger

News India Live, Digital Desk: Health services in Bihar in a bad state: One of the largest hospitals in Bihar, Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital SKMCH, Muzaffarpur, is struggling with serious plight these days. The hospital, which provides health services to the large part of North Bihar, is surrounded by problems in every department, from emergency to intensive medical unit, ICU due to huge shortage of doctors. According to the information, only 160 doctors out of 417 posts of doctors are working in this huge hospital. This number is not even one-third of the current need. This huge shortage of experts is directly affecting emergency services, where serious patients are finding it difficult to get immediate assistance. Similarly, even in sensitive units like ICU, where special monitoring and care is required every moment, patients are not getting adequate medical treatment. This is not only affecting the quality of treatment, but is also threatening the lives of patients. This staff crisis is directly affected by other departments of the hospital, such as OPD, general wards, and surgery. Patients have to wait for a long time and sometimes they have to return without treatment or go to other private hospitals, which is a major financial challenge for them. The situation is putting an additional pressure on the basic services of the hospital, which has increased the workload on the existing staff of the staff, which affects both their efficiency and the quality of patient care. It is necessary for the state government to immediately fill these vacant posts, improve medical facilities and allocate adequate resources so that patients can get better and timely treatment. This negligence about public health is a serious concern, and it requires delay on it.
