Jharkhand: Hidden from SEBI, sold crores of land, again tightened on Sahara Group

News India Live, Digital Desk: Once again Sahara Group has come under controversy. This time he is accused of selling hundreds of acres of land in the states of Jharkhand and Bihar, without informing market regulator SEBI (SEBII -Indian Securities and Exchange Board). This action is a violation of SEBI’s instructions directly to the group to inform the regulator about the return of investors and the sale of assets. The whole matter is related to the Sahara India Real Estate Corporation Limited (SIRECL) and Sahara Housing Investment Corporation Limited (SHICL). The Supreme Court had already directed Sahara to refund more than thousands of crores of rupees from investors. To ensure the recovery of this money, the Supreme Court also empowered SEBI to use money received from the sale of assets of Sahara Group. For this, SEBI had laid a condition that Sahara could not sell any of its real estate without regulator permission and information. According to the reports, Sahara Group sold more than 384 acres of land in Jharkhand and Bihar without informing SEBI. It is alleged that this land was sold at a time when a legal battle was going on between Sahara and SEBI. This land is spread over districts like Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Chhapra, Kishanganj, Patna, Supaul, Nalanda, Muzaffarpur, Purnia and Bhagalpur in Bihar, while in Jharkhand it is in Deoghar, Ranchi, Giridih and Dhanbad. These lands were in many places in the form of small plots. Sibi is now taking the matter seriously. He has previously expressed concern on many such occasions that Sahara is delaying investors’ money and is not transparent in property information. This new allegation can create more difficulties for the group and this is likely to further delay in the legal process. This dispute is also a matter of concern for thousands of investors of Sahara whose money is stuck with the group. SEBI will try to ensure that the investor’s money is safe at any cost and action should be taken against those who violate the rules.
