
Valley of flowers opens for tourists: The famous “Valley of Flowers” National Park located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand has been opened to tourists since June 1, 2025. This World Heritage Site attracts hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists every year, who come to see various types of rare flowers blooming in the valley during July to September. It is also called the ‘entrance to heaven’, where nature is on its extreme beauty.
Nanda Devi National Park has opened its gates on Saturday under the aegis of Narendranagar Forest Division, Forest Department (Uttarakhand). Tourists will get admission under the guidelines of Nanda Devi National Park Administration and Garhwal Mandal Development Corporation. The purpose of the journey is to provide botanists and nature lovers an opportunity to enjoy rare flora and natural scenes. However, tourists can get information about the weather and road from Joshimath for 12 to 15 days before entering, so that the journey can be prepared better.
The Valley of Flowers is spread over an area of about 87.50 square kilometers in the Himalayas and is home to more than 500 species of flowers. The region is also the abode of various medicinal plants and wildlife such as Asian black bears, snow leopards, brown bears and blue sheep (Bharl). In 2005, UNESCO declared this valley as the World Heritage Site. This declaration reflects the importance of conservation of this unique ecosystem and its extraordinary biodiversity. Tourists often come here to experience peace, solitude and unique beauty of nature.
