Kumbh Mela 2025: Kumbh Mela is organized every 12 years in four religious cities of India, Haridwar, Prayagraj, Ujjain and Nashik. The history of Kumbh, the world’s oldest and largest religious event, is centuries old. Even during the Mughal period and during the time of Akbar, special arrangements were made for this program at the government level. There are authentic facts recorded in this regard in history books.
Historian Dr. Haramba Chaturvedi has mentioned the planning of Kumbh during the Mughal period in his book ‘Kumbh: Historikar Vangmaya’. Dr. Haramba Chaturvedi writes that 19,000 Mughal coins were spent on the maintenance of the Kumbh during the reign of Akbar in 1589.
It is also mentioned in the book ‘Kumbh: Historikar Vangmaya’ that in 1589 the revenue of the Mughal rule was 41000 coins. If the expenditure of 19000 coins is deducted, the Sultanate got a profit of 22000 coins.
Akbar also appointed two officers to oversee the arrangements of the Kumbh Mela. An officer was called ‘Mir-e-Bahar’. The job of this officer was to manage the waste generated on the ground and in the fair.
Another officer appointed by Akbar was called ‘Musaddi’. The job of this officer was to see the cleanliness and order of the ghats.
Mahakumbh Mela 2025 will be organized in Prayagraj from 13 January 2025 to 26 February 2025. Kumbh Mela is an event that involves astronomy, astrology, spirituality, religious traditions and socio-cultural customs and practices.
