What is the Current Status?

Jalgaon Collector Ayush Prasad said that curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure. At present the situation is peaceful and under control. Clashes broke out around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night, following which the mob set fire to several shops and vehicles.

It was further said that the clash between the two groups started after a kind of road rage incident. The violent mob tried to set fire to shops and damage vehicles. Police reached the spot and controlled the situation. Some people suffered minor injuries in the clash. A 24-hour curfew was imposed from 3 am on Wednesday. At present the situation is peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported this morning. The administration will hold a peace committee meeting to resolve the dispute between the two groups.

Why the controversy?

The grand alliance took place in Paldhi village of government minister and Shiv Sena leader Gulabrao Patil. According to the information, Shiv Sena Shinde faction minister Gulabrao Patil’s wife and family members were traveling in his car. A young man from the village was hit by a car, soon a crowd of people gathered. People became angry and started abusing the car driver. When minister Gulabrao Patil’s wife was in the car, some Shiv Sainiks got into a fight with people who abused her. After this both the groups came face to face and incidents of stone pelting and arson took place.
