Mumbai: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a revenue officer who demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for land records in Navi Mumbai. The accused was caught taking a bribe of Rs 40 thousand from the complainant.
ACB Navi Mumbai unit Deputy Superintendent of Police Shivraj Mhetre said the accused Kiran Arzoo Gore (48) worked as a revenue assistant in the Panvel tehsil office.
The accused Gore demanded Rs 1 lakh from the complainant for converting his ancestral land from Category-II to Category-I under the Bombay Tenancy and Agricultural Land Act.
This person negotiated and agreed to pay a bribe of Rs 80 thousand. On the other hand, he informed the matter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The accused was taking Rs 40 thousand as bribe from the white complainant. Then ACB officers laid a trap and caught him. A case has been registered against Gore at Panvel Police Station. The police have arrested him and are investigating further.
