Banda, 13 December (Hindustan Reporter). The memory of the terrorist attack on the Parliament House on 13 December 2001 still makes one shudder. Senior BJP leader of Banda Purushottam Pandey was seriously injured in this attack. On this day, the proceedings of the Parliament were adjourned due to the uproar, and as soon as Purushottam Pandey came out with his colleagues, the terrorists shook the Parliament complex with bullets and bomb blasts. The BJP leader was hit by several bullets in this attack. The family celebrated his rebirth today.

Purushottam Pandey and his associates late Shyam Bihari Mishra, Santosh Kumar Gupta and Sudama Singh were in Delhi on December 12 planning to participate in the Parliament proceedings the next day. But no one thought that this day would prove to be the most dangerous day of their lives.

During the attack, the then Kanpur MP late Shyam Bihari Mishra and Santosh Gupta reached inside safely, but Pandey was left outside. Then a human bomb blew himself up. Pandey was seriously injured by the explosion and the barrage of AK-56 bullets. He was immediately admitted to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi, where he was treated for two months and his life was saved.

After the attack, his family considered it as his second birth and celebrate this day as Rebirth Day every year on 13 December. Remembering this incident, Pandey still shudders.

However, they think that perhaps he got this big punishment because of his social service and activism in the organization. The BJP limited the event to mere tributes, while Pandey believes that more support and attention should have been given to the victims of the attack and their families.
