New Delhi. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav has started a new political debate by advising West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to hand over the leadership of INDIA alliance. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kirti Azad also supported making Mamata Banerjee the president of the alliance in a video statement. He said that Mamata Banerjee is completely capable of leadership. Senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has reacted clearly to this statement of Lalu Yadav. He said, “No one is questioning Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. Rahul Gandhi is and will remain our leader. Rahul Gandhi has a big contribution in strengthening the opposition against the Modi government. No one can deny this.”
Raut further said that the INDIA alliance is not limited to just Congress. There are many parties involved and each party may have its own viewpoint. He said, “If a change in the leadership of Mamata Banerjee or any other leader increases the strength of the alliance, then it can be considered.” However, he also made it clear that any such decision should be taken only with the consent of all parties. Congress should also discuss this issue with other parties.
