Pakistan High Commissioner meets Khaleda Zia in Dhaka

Dhaka, 04 December (HS). Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maroof met Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence on Tuesday night. His wife was also present with him. The meeting started at 8:30 pm and lasted for about one and a half hours. During this, BNP Standing Committee Member Professor Dr. Ezem Zahid Hussain and Organization Secretary Shama Obaid were also present.

BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan informed that the High Commissioner reached Khaleda Zia’s residence at 8:30 pm and left from there at 10 pm. After the meeting, Professor Dr. Ezem Zahid Hussain told reporters that the High Commissioner discussed many issues during the meeting. He underlined the contribution of Ziaur Rahman in the establishment of Bangladesh and expressed his desire to take Pakistan’s relations with Bangladesh to a new level.

The High Commissioner inquired about the health of Khaleda Zia, wished her speedy recovery and extended good wishes on behalf of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. Khaleda Zia also expressed her gratitude for his messages and sent her best wishes. It is noteworthy that many foreign diplomats have met Khaleda Zia in recent months. Khaleda Zia was released the day after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government following the student protests in August. After this, British High Commissioner Sarah Cook met him on September 5 and Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador Isa Yusuf Isa Al-Duhailan met him on November 25.
