JEE Main 2025, jeemain.nta.nic.in: National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued new guidelines regarding JEE Main 2025. Meanwhile, the score tie-breaking rules have been changed. That is, now if two students get equal marks, then the rules for how the better rank will be decided between them have been changed. From this year onwards, age has been removed from the tie-breaking calculation. It is noteworthy that NTA has released the guidelines for JEE Main 2025 on Monday night (28 October). Along with this, NTA had also started the registration process for JEE Main on 28 October, which will end on 22 November. Know here about the new tiebreaking rule.
JEE Main Ranking Rules in case of tie for equal marks:
Ties between candidates scoring the same total marks in JEE Main paper were resolved by determining ranks in the following manner:
- high marks in maths
- Next, score in physics
- Next, score in Chemistry
- Thereafter, the candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in all the subjects in the examination
- Thereafter, the candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers and wrong answers in Mathematics in the examination
- Thereafter, the candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers and wrong answers in Physics in the examination
- Thereafter, the candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers and wrong answers in Chemistry
- Next, older candidate
- After this, application number in ascending order.
What is the new change?
Now the criteria till the seventh stage will remain the same, the criteria of 'older in age' and 'in ascending order of application number' have been removed. As per the revised guidelines, if there is a tie till the seventh criterion, the candidates will be given the same rank.
Change in domain of JEE official website:
This year another change has also taken place in the website domain. Last year, NTA had shifted the old JEE website – jeemain.nta.nic.in – to the new JEE Main website – jeemain.nta.ac.in. However, the agency has once again shifted to the old JEE website – jeemain.nta.nic.in – this year.
Extra time for disabled students:
Another change that has been made this time is the revised guidelines for the JEE Main 2025 exam for candidates classified as Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD). Disabled candidates will be given 20 minutes extra time per hour.
