While Nifty closed at 24,456 points with a gain of 117 points. Both Nift and Sensex closed in the green. The holy day of Dhanteras has been very good for the Indian stock market. The market was trading with a decline throughout the day. But in the last hours, Sensex and Nifty closed with strong gains due to strong buying by investors in banking shares. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 16 stocks closed higher and 14 stocks closed lower. Whereas out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 31 stocks closed with a rise and 19 stocks closed with a fall. Gainers included Federal Bank 8.49 percent, SBI 5.13 percent, ICICI Bank 5.13 percent, Bajaj Finserv 2.18 percent, NTPC 2.11 percent, Bajaj Finance 1.61 percent, Larsen 1.25 percent, Axis Bank 1.31 percent. Whereas Maruti Suzuki closed with a fall of 4.11 percent, Tata Motors 4.06 percent, Sun Pharma 2.14 percent, Bharti Airtel 1.61 percent, Infosys 1.25 percent.
