Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain gave instructions to ensure successful organization of Bastar Olympics in the meeting of Bastar Division Commissioner, Inspector General of Police, Collector, Superintendent of Police and related officials through video conferencing today on Thursday. He asked that all necessary arrangements including registration for Bastar Olympics should be ensured well in advance. Bastar Olympics is being organized for the first time by the government to give a platform to the youth and sports talents of Bastar. Participation of more and more youth from the interior areas in Bastar Olympics is necessary, hence registration should be increased.
To increase registration, wide publicity should be done through field staff of all departments. Videos should be prepared in the local dialect and broadcasted on social media and publicity should be ensured through banners, posters and announcements in fair price shops, village panchayats and haat-bazaars. Chief Secretary Shri Jain directed to ensure all necessary preparations and arrangements well in advance for the block, district and division level competitions under Bastar Olympics 2024. Besides, it was said that wide participation of sports organizations should be ensured in the said event.
It is known that under Bastar Olympics 2024, athletics, volleyball, football, kabaddi, kho-kho, hockey, archery, karate, badminton, weightlifting and tug of war are included. In which hockey and weightlifting will be held directly at the district level. There will be competition in two age groups under Bastar Olympics, under which players of 14 to 17 years will be able to participate in the junior category and there is no age limit above 17 years in the senior category. The winning players from development block level will be able to participate at the district level and the winning players from the district level will be able to participate at the division level. Disabled and surrendered Naxalites who have joined the mainstream under the Naxal campaign in Bastar Olympics will be able to participate directly at the divisional level.
During the video conferencing, Additional Chief Secretary Home and Jail Manoj Pinguva, Principal Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Niharika Barik, Principal Secretary Tribal Welfare Department Sonmani Bora along with secretaries of various departments and senior senior officials were present. During this, Commissioner Bastar Doman Singh, IG Bastar Sundarraj P. and Collector Haris S. informed about the preparations and arrangements for organizing Bastar Olympics 2024 in the NIC room of the Collectorate.
