Farmers are stuck due to the slow pace of paddy procurement in the mandis of Punjab. If the crop is left standing in the fields, there is a fear of the ripe crop getting spoiled. Even though the problem is of the farmers and even though this noise is of the sheller owners, the farmers of Punjab are being ground in the mill of this problem. Farmers are upset due to non-upliftment of paddy in Asia's largest grain market. There are heaps of sacks of paddy in the market. Farmers' tractor-trolleys filled with paddy are standing. Farmers are waiting for their turn to keep their crops in the market but lack of space remains a hindrance. According to the information received from Market Committee Khanna, 664083 quintals of paddy has been purchased so far, out of which 357929 quintals of paddy has been lifted and 306154 quintals of paddy is lying in the mandis. About 8 lakh bags are waiting for pickup.

It seems that this time farmers will celebrate Diwali in the markets only.

It is noteworthy that after the meeting of farmer organizations with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, it was assured that lifting of paddy will be started in the entire state and every grain will be lifted from the mandis on time. Despite this, the government's claims in Khanna's grain market have been exposed. The procurement situation in the market is very bad. All the arrangements have broken down. There are heaps of paddy everywhere in the market. There is no place even to keep the crops. From this it seems that this time Diwali of farmers will be celebrated in the market. Along with this, if the weather changes and it rains, the hard work of the farmers may go waste.

Harvesting will be done only after the picking has started

Farmers Surinder Singh, Dalbir Singh, Jaswinder Singh and Harkirat Singh present in the market told that many of their trolleys are standing in the market filled with paddy. There is no place to land them. Looking at the market condition, we have decided that we will not harvest more crops from the fields until the crop lifting starts from the market because there is no space to keep the crop in the market after harvesting. If this is the condition of procurement in Khanna, Asia's largest grain market, then what will happen to other markets of Punjab? The government should think about the farmers, such a situation has never happened before.

50 percent lifting has been done in Khanna: Honorable

Market Committee Secretary Manjinder Singh Mann said that due to the first Panchayat elections, there was less crop in the market. Now after the election work is over, the arrival of the crop has suddenly increased. Due to this, there is some problem, but in a day or two the entire crop will be lifted from the market. So far 54 percent of the crop has been lifted.
