Heavy fall in silver: Adverse rise in gold

Mumbai: Gold prices traded in a volatile range in the Mumbai jewelery market today, while silver prices fell from highs. World markets were soft. Global gold funds saw offloading at their peak as the dollar index rose and crude oil fell in the world market.

Globally, gold prices today ranged from $2656 to $2657 an ounce, followed by global gold prices ranging from $31.53 to $31.54 to $31.21 an ounce.

In Mumbai bullion market, the price of silver without GST was Rs 91 thousand per kg and it was Rs 9026. In Mumbai, gold prices ranged from Rs 75,827 to Rs 75,697, Rs 99.50 per 10 gram to Rs 75,700 and Rs 76,000 to Rs 76,132 per 10 gram.

Gold and silver prices in Mumbai were 3 percent more than this price including GST. Meanwhile, in Ahmedabad jewelery market, gold was priced at Rs 99.50 at Rs 78300 and Rs 99.90 at Rs 78500. Whereas the price of silver in Ahmedabad was Rs 91500.

The price of platinum in the world market was 987 to 988 to 985 dollars. The price of palladium was 1042 dollars. Global copper prices fell by 1.98 percent today. China's latest economic data came in weak. Crude oil prices also fell sharply in the world market today.

Brent crude was down 79.04 at $76.88 a barrel, while US crude was down 75.56 at $73.92 a barrel from $73.41. New demand from China remained slow. According to OPEC estimates, the demand for crude oil was less than expected and its impact was also seen on the market.
