New Delhi, 9 October (Hindustan Reporter). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three persons, including the Chief Depot Material Superintendent of the Modern Coach Factory, Rae Bareli, on charges of taking bribe.
CBI said on Wednesday that Chief Depot Material Superintendent of Rae Bareli's Modern Coach Factory Ranjit, Ward Officer Arvind and a private person Rinku Kumar have been arrested. All of them are accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant through Google Pay. This bribe was demanded from the promoter of a Mumbai-based company in return for approving the consignments supplied by his firm.
According to the CBI, the accused officials had demanded bribe for getting the factory's online tender approved for the goods (safety goggles) supplied by the complainant's Mumbai-based trading firm. The accused had made several calls to the complainant, demanding bribe for getting his material approved. The complainant ignored his demand, following which an item was rejected from the coach factory on 28 August 2024 and a rejection letter regarding the same was sent to him. After this, the accused again called the complainant and demanded bribe.
After complaining about this to CBI, the complainant transferred Rs 30 thousand from Google Pay to the account of a private person as per the instructions of the accused. After confirming that the bribe amount was paid, the CBI arrested all three. CBI searched the residential and official premises of the accused in Rae Bareli, in which incriminating documents were recovered. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
