New Delhi, 7 October (Hindustan Reporter). Delhi High Court has disposed of the petition filed regarding installation of the statue of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi in Idgah Park. On Monday, the bench headed by Chief Justice Manmohan was told that the statue of Rani of Jhansi has been installed properly by building the boundary wall.
This statue of Jhansi has been installed at a distance of two hundred meters from the wall of Idgah.
On October 4, the High Court had asked the Idgah Management Committee with its three representatives to visit Idgah Park on October 5 to see if there could be an alternative place to install the statue of Rani of Jhansi. In the petition filed by the Shahi Idgah Management Committee, it had said that encroachment on the land of Shahi Idgah should be banned, because it is a Waqf property. The petition had referred to a gazette notification of 1970, in which Shahi Idgah Park was described as an ancient property, which was built during the Mughal period and namaz is offered there. The single bench, while rejecting the petition, had said that the open area around the boundary of Idgah and Idgah Park is the property of DDA.
