
Rain Warning Monsoon Update: An active western disturbance circulation is expected to remain active in North India today and Sunday. This circulation is active in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to which rain was seen in many districts of Punjab on Friday and there is a possibility of rain in various districts including Chandigarh.
Due to the rain on Friday, the average temperature of Punjab remained normal. While the highest temperature was recorded in Bathinda at 35.3 degrees. 62 mm of rain has been recorded in the Chandigarh airport area in the last 24 hours.
In Punjab, Pathankot recorded 10.8 mm rain, Gurdaspur 3.4 mm, Jalandhar 7.1 mm, Ludhiana 3.6 mm, Rupnagar 5.7 mm, Sangrur 5.8 mm and SBS Nagar 4.5 mm.
In Punjab, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala as well as Chandigarh are expected to receive normal to moderate rains today on Saturday. While there is a possibility of rain in other districts.
According to the Meteorological Department, Punjab and Chandigarh have been placed in the red zone this season. Actually, monsoon is going to start from June 1. From then till September 6, there has been 22 percent less rain in Punjab and 23 percent less rain in Chandigarh.
Normally, Punjab receives 385.8 mm of rain, but since June 1, it has received only 299.2 mm of rain, which is 22 per cent of the average. Similarly, Chandigarh normally receives 754.2 mm of rain, while till now only 460.2 mm of rain has been recorded.
