Simi Singh in ICU: Ireland cricket team's star all-rounder Simranjeet Singh aka Simi Singh is fighting for his life. According to the information, the all-rounder has been admitted to the ICU at Medanta in Gurugram due to liver failure. He is awaiting liver transplant. Simi has been a key player for the Ireland cricket team since his debut in 2017 and has represented the team in both ODIs and T20s.
Simi was born in Mohali, Punjab and successfully represented Punjab at the Under-14 and Under-17 levels, but failed to reach the Under-19 level. He then moved to Ireland in 2005 to study hotel management and started playing professional cricket there. In 2006, he was signed by Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin and was soon included in the Ireland squad.
come to india for better treatment
Simi's father-in-law Parvinder Singh said that about five-six months ago, when Simi was in Dublin, she got a strange fever which kept coming and going. After which Simi got her checkup done there but nothing came out in the test. The doctors there said that nothing is clear so we cannot treat Simi.
Parvinder further said that Simi's health was deteriorating due to the delay in treatment, so they decided to get better treatment in India. Simi left for Mohali in late June and after some consultation with doctors, her treatment began at PGI, Chandigarh in early July. There she was treated for TB and given antibiotics. Later it was found that she did not have TB.
Simi's wife Agamdeep Kaur, who works in Dublin, is willing to donate a part of her liver. Simi's blood group is AB positive, which means she is universally accepted.
Liver Transplant
He further said that when Simi's fever did not subside, she was taken to a private hospital in Mohali for further examination, where they were told that Simi did not have TB, but would have to complete a course of medication. She was also given steroids along with TB medicines. After this, her fever started increasing again and she developed jaundice.
In the last week of August, we again took her to PGI where Simi was admitted to the ICU but her condition kept deteriorating and the doctors at PGI then said that Simi's liver had failed. So the doctors advised to take Simi to Medanta in Gurugram as there was a high possibility of Simi going into a coma after which transplant would not be possible. She was brought to Medanta on September 3 and is now awaiting liver transplant.
