A 58 -year -old man has been arrested on Tuesday for the ruthless murder of an old woman and her son in Nenmara area of Palakkad district of Kerala. The accused has been identified as Chanthamara, who was first arrested in the case of murder of the daughter -in -law of the same family in 2019 and was currently on bail.
On Monday, Centhamara cut 72 -year -old Lakshmi and her 50 -year -old son Sudhakaran, cut off with a sharp weapon outside her house. The victim’s family alleges that Panthmara had a deep enmity with Sudhakaran’s family. He believed that his marriage broke up because of this family, due to which his wife and children left him.
Bloody game came in the talk of tantric
According to the report of India Today, Chanthamara was under the influence of a tantric, who assured her that a long -haired woman had ruined her life. Due to this superstition, he killed Sudhakaran’s wife Sajita in 2019. Chanthamara was jailed in the case of Sajita’s murder, but was later granted bail. He was prevented from entering the Nenmara Panchayat area, but he violated the order and started threatening people by staying in the village.
Questions raised on police lethargy
Sudhakaran’s daughter had lodged a police complaint on 29 December, in which she said that Chanthamara is constantly threatening her family. However, the police did not take any action on this, causing resentment in the local community and the administration’s inaction was held responsible for the murder. Confirming the arrest, Palakkad Superintendent of Police Ajit Kumar said that during interrogation, the accused has given many shocking information.
Chanthamara is hiding in the hills for 36 hours
Superintendent of Police Kumar said that after the murder, Chanthamara fled to her house, where barbed wires were engaged. After this he went towards the hills and hid there for about one and a half days. He said, “He knew the area well and was monitoring the police search. He got out when he was hungry, and when he was trying to return to his home, the police caught him. ” Local people believe that if the police had taken action on the complaint of Sudhakaran’s daughter on time, this heinous murder could have been stopped. The police is now investigating the entire case and interrogation of the accused is going on.
