
World liver day: The liver is the powerhouse of our body. The work of the liver is to digest food, absorb vitamins and minerals from it and transport them to the body. When a toxin enters the body, it is toxicly free by the liver. Despite this, negligence in liver care is often taken. This is why the number of liver transplant cases is continuously increasing. It is also worrying that impaired lifestyle is responsible for 50 percent of liver transplant cases. Every year 19 April is celebrated as ‘World Liver Day’. When fat starts accumulating on the liver, it is called fatty liver. According to doctors, a person whose body mass index is more than 30, is at risk of fatty liver. Anyone who often has stomach pain, acidity or gas problem should consult a doctor. Fatty liver can be diagnosed with sonography tests. The number of fatty liver patients has increased due to lack of exercise, excess of junk food, and complete absence of outdoor games. In the last few years, the problem of fatty liver in children has also increased.
More than 700 liver transplants in civil
More than 700 liver transplants have been done so far at the Civil Medicity Kidney Disease and Research Center (IKDRC). This includes 96 in 2021, 186 in 2022, 196 in 2023 and more than 150 liver implants in 2024.
