50 crore rupees will be given to farmers for crop loss, officials disappointed

Mumbai-A scam has come to light in Maharashtra, where lower level officials have embezzled Rs 50 crore to farmers for compensation for hailstorm and flood damage in 2023-24. The Collector of Jalna district has ordered an inquiry into the entire scam.

In 2023-24, compensation for crop damage due to hailstorm and floods is Rs. The amount allocated for 13 lakh farmers is Rs. It was decided to give Rs 1500 crore. In return, this 50 crore rupees were to be distributed among the farmers. But complaints were received from many farmers regarding irregularities in payment of compensation. The alleged scam was then brought to light by the administration.

According to district officials, preliminary investigation revealed large irregularities in Ghansavagi and Ambad taluka. Where the same person is suspected of misusing the credibility of the tehsildars to make several payments to make fake beneficiaries, tampering and rigging money on village servants, talati (village level officers) and block officials.

Taking this matter seriously, District Collector Dr. Shri Krishna Panchal had issued a detailed inquiry orders. He informed that a committee of Assistant Collector, Deputy Collector and Deputy Tehsildar was constituted for this investigation.

Mahadik said that the committee has been asked to submit its conclusions within a month.
