One side of the municipal body in the hearing?

He has also argued that the Gujarat government had rejected the VMC's proposal to sell the land to Yusuf Pathan in 2014, while the state government cannot refuse to sell the land as it belongs to the municipal corporation and not the state government. After hearing the arguments of senior advocate Yatin Ojha, appearing for Pathan, a single bench of Justice Sangeeta Visen asked the VMC counsel to present the civic body's side in the next hearing on Friday.

Former all-rounder Pathan lives in Tadalja area of Vadodara and the disputed plot is adjacent to his house. He won the Lok Sabha election from West Bengal's Berhampur constituency. The election results were declared on June 4. Ojha tried to link the notice to Pathan's election as a TMC MP, saying that the VMC did nothing for 10 years and suddenly sent the notice two days after the election results. Ojha said that Pathan was given the notice because his party was different, but Justice Visen told the lawyer not to deviate from the issue and stick to the main issue.

demanded this plot from VMC

According to the case details, it is a residential plot owned by the VMC. In 2012, Pathan had sought the plot from the VMC as his house was adjacent to the plot. He offered to buy it at market rate. Though the proposal to sell the land to Pathan was approved by the VMC in 2014, the state government did not approve it as it had the final authority. However, since then, the land has been in the possession of the Pathans, Ojha said. Ojha said the VMC decided to give the plot to Yusuf Pathan and his cricketer brother Irfan Pathan for their contribution as they were in the Indian team when the proposal was approved. He argued that the VMC should have allotted the land when the proposal was approved.
