Jammu, 9 December (Hindustan Reporter). The Board of Cultural Activities (BCA) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Jammu Chapter has launched a program on Drug Abuse among the Youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Organized a vibrant youth festival focusing on the important topic of drug abuse. The festival started with an inauguration ceremony in which Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, BCA President Dr. Rakesh Thusu and BCA Vice President Dr. Kamini Pathania, Cultural Coordinator Dr. Rahul Sharma and other distinguished guests participated.
Dr. Kamini Pathania welcomed the audience with a passionate address emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about drug abuse. The Vice Chancellor gave an insightful speech highlighting the role of youth in tackling this social issue. The inauguration also included mesmerizing classical and cultural performances by the talented students of SMVDU. The second part of the program showcased talent through various inter-school competitions. Inklet, a creative writing competition, challenged participants to write compelling narratives while Battle of Voices showcased powerful singing talents. A captivating dance competition highlighted the themes of human emotions that enthralled the audience.
Meanwhile, Nishu Pandita and group enthralled the audience with Kashmiri folk dance Roshuk while Ram Dutta and group enthralled the audience with traditional art form Geetadu. Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Reena Salathia participated in the show and congratulated the Board for organizing such a wonderful show. The festival not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir but also served as a powerful platform to engage the youth in meaningful conversations about the dangers of drug abuse.
