Lucknow, 26 October (Hindustan Reporter). A youth died in police custody in Chinhat police station area. On Saturday evening the family members created a ruckus by blocking the road making this allegation. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot, pacified the family and sent the body for post-mortem.
Uncle Ramdesh Pandey alleges that on Friday, Chinhat police station had detained Mohit Pandey (32) and his brother Shobharam in connection with the assault. Kept in police custody overnight. His health deteriorated on Saturday morning and police personnel admitted him to Lohia Hospital. He died during treatment.
After the incident the family members became angry and came out on the road. Tried to jam. Meanwhile, on receiving information, police from several police stations reached the spot. The police pacified the family and took them to the hospital. During this time the family members also clashed with the police.
The uncle alleged that the police had brought both the brothers into custody to the police station in connection with the assault. After this, Mohit was brutally beaten, due to which he died.
The brother told that his brother has been tortured a lot. He was beaten at night. You can identify which police personnel have been killed by looking at their face. In the night itself the brother said that he was unwell, but the policemen abused him. It is alleged that the brother died in the police lockup. The police personnel did not even allow them to talk to the family. Till now no statement has come from any officer regarding the death of the youth due to beating by police personnel.
