New Delhi, 19 November (HS). Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday expressed concern over the digital obsession among the country’s youth and said the fast-paced digital world is pushing the youth away from physical playgrounds towards digital playgrounds.

Dhankhar was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Bocce and Bowling Competition at Tyagaraja Stadium as the chief guest. He said that through these Games we are celebrating inclusion and respect for specially-abled individuals in the Asia Pacific region. It reflects the cultural ethos of India. Special Olympics represents our commitment to universal inclusion.

Dhankhar said that in today’s fast-paced digital world, our youth and children are increasingly becoming addicted to small plastic screens – mobiles. They are being pushed away from real playgrounds into digital playgrounds. He said, “I would especially ask every parent to ensure that children are not deprived of real playgrounds because of this small plastic screen. Let us ensure that this digital obsession does not deprive children, that generation, of the thrill, emotion and knowledge of the real playground.”

Highlighting the challenges faced by sportspersons with disabilities, Dhankhar said that you are champions not only on the field but also in the game of life, where you triumph against challenges that many of us can only imagine. Are.

Referring to the change in perception towards sports in the country, Dhankhar said that sports is no longer seen only as an extra activity. It is an essential part of education and life, it is a means of character building, promoting unity and filling us with national pride.

The Vice President said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many positive steps have been taken to unleash the energy and potential of persons with disabilities and realize their aspirations and dreams.
