New Delhi: (Zakir Hussein Murder) The morning of December 16 was a very sad day for both the entertainment world and the music industry as tabla player Zakir Hussain passed away in a hospital in San Francisco, his family announced on Monday (today). The news has been confirmed.

Hussain’s death

According to his family, the 73-year-old renowned tabla player died due to complications of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. It is being told that he was admitted in the hospital for the last two weeks.

Clouds of sadness over the Bollywood industry

There was mourning in the entertainment world due to the demise of Zakir Hussain. Many celebrities including Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Riteish Deshmukh and Bhumi Pednekar have paid tribute and remembered the late tabla player.

While sharing the story on her Instagram account, Kareena Kapoor has shared an old photo, in which she is seen with Zakir and father and actor Randhir Kapoor. The photo was captioned, ‘Maestro Forever (red heart emoji)’. Ranveer Singh has posted an old picture of Zakir playing the tabla on Instagram.

Riteish Deshmukh and Bhumi Pednekar wrote an emotional note

Riteish Deshmukh has posted an old picture of Zakir on his X account, in which he has written, ‘The irreparable loss of Zakir Hussain Sahab is a big blow to India and the global music industry. Sir, your music was a gift, a treasure that will continue to inspire generations to come. Your legacy will remain immortal forever. May your soul rest in peace, condolences to the family and loved ones of the great Zakir Hussain Sahab.

Bhumi Pednekar also shared an old picture of Zakir on Instagram. He captioned the post, ‘Ustad. His tune will always resonate in our hearts. Shweta Tiwari, who has worked in TV and films, also paid tribute to him by sharing the story.

Zakir Hussain was born on 9 March 1951 in Mahim, Mumbai to the famous tabla player Ustad Alarkha. From the beginning he was inclined towards playing tabla. He also learned to play the Mridangam (classical percussion instrument) from his father at the age of 3.

Percussionist Zakir Hussain (one of India’s most renowned classical musicians) has been awarded the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023.
