A Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) has been prepared by the Centre for Telecommunication Technology (C-DOT). It contains the model number, SIM number and IMEI number of every user's mobile. Government agencies match the mobile model and IMEI number to trace stolen mobiles.

This system can be launched in the country on May 17. With its help, users can track their lost phones and get them blocked.
