In the era of digital payments, India has once again prepared to take a new and revolutionary step. Now crores of users of the country are soon going to get the great facility of making UPI payments even without internet or poor connectivity. National Payments Corporation of India i.e. NPCI is going to launch Tap and Pay facility based on Near Field Communication technology at Point of Sale i.e. POS terminals to make digital transactions more easy and accessible across the country. With the advent of this new technology, shopping in the market will become even faster and more convenient.

How will this new technology work without internet?

Often one has to face a lot of difficulties in making online payments due to weak internet signal in rural areas or in places like basements. NPCI has prepared this technology to find a permanent solution to this problem. Under this new system, the user will have to tap his smartphone only once near the POS machine. Near Field Communication technology instantly transfers secure data through radio waves without an internet connection, allowing successful UPI payment completion in a matter of seconds without any network interruption.

Customers and shopkeepers will get countless benefits

This initiative of NPCI is going to provide huge benefits to both the general public and small and big traders. Now shopkeepers will not have to depend on internet or Wi-Fi to ensure payment. Apart from this, the time taken to complete the transaction will also reduce to a great extent. The faster the process of digital transactions, the faster we will get rid of long queues. Whether there is network in every corner of the country or not, the pace of digital payments will continue to grow without stopping.

A big change in the world of digital payments

UPI has already become the world’s most popular and successful payment medium in India. Now the addition of NFC based Tap and Pay feature on POS terminals by NPCI is going to prove to be another milestone towards Digital India. Government and financial institutions are constantly promoting technologies that make the life of the common man easier. Once this service is fully launched in the coming days, the experience of offline digital payment in the country will completely change.
