‘You don’t get roles in films just by looking at your followers’, actress Zoya Hussain expresses her pain.

Talented actress Zoya Hussain, known for her excellent and out-of-the-box performances in Bollywood, is currently working on her upcoming and much talked about web series. ‘Hunkar: The Roar’ (Hunkkaar: The Roar) is continuously in the headlines. In this series streaming on Jio Hotstar, Zoya has played a very strong and brilliant character named ‘Shivani’, which is getting a lot of appreciation from the audience. Recently, during a special conversation, Zoya openly expressed her heart on the bitter truth of the acting world, the virtual world of social media and the changing methods of casting in films.

Zoya, who made a great start to her acting career in Hindi cinema with the film ‘Mukkabaaz’, has proven her acting prowess in films like ‘Lal Kaptaan’, ‘Bhaiya Ji’ and ‘Kaadan’ as well as in popular web series like ‘Grahan’ and ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’. He has always moved away from commercial glamor and given preference to such stories which directly touch the hearts of the audience.

Nowadays, it is becoming a common trend within the film industry that actors are being selected on the basis of their followers, likes and virtual popularity on social media platforms rather than their acting skills. Expressing deep sorrow over this trend, Zoya Hussain revealed that she herself has become a victim of this strange process and due to having less followers, many times she has lost the best projects.

Talking about this, Zoya said, “I don’t understand this process at all. Because of this era of social media, this has happened to me many times. Now I don’t understand what solution should I find for this. It is what it is. I wish I was a little better at running social media, but I am not. People who are good at it definitely get the benefits of it and we all are seeing the results of it in front of our eyes.”

He further said that this kind of casting is having a very bad effect on the work of the artists and the overall performance of the films. The makers of the industry have to understand that casting people only on the basis of virtual popularity cannot work in the long run, because good actors are always needed for a good and effective acting.

On the question of expressing her views vocally and roaring in real life, Zoya answered in a very serious manner. She said, “I talk a lot, I keep talking every day. But now I want to learn to be a little quiet from within. Every day in life, you have to face some situation or the other, where you have to raise your voice, but sometimes maintaining peace is also very important.”

Talking about her future priorities regarding her work, the actress said that her only wish is to keep working continuously and get new opportunities to improve her acting. She considers it her good fortune that today she is at a position where she is getting the opportunity to live different lives and portray characters on screen in different projects.
