Lucknow, 27 October. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken important steps in the interest of workers and has fixed the revised rates of Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) in 74 scheduled employments of the state. Under this, the minimum monthly wages of workers have increased from ₹ 174.25 to ₹ 238.39. The new rates will be effective from October 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.
According to the government order issued by the Labor Department on October 21, 2026, this amendment in the minimum wages of workers has been made on the basis of the average of 431 points of All India Consumer Price Index for the period from January to June 2026. Its objective is to provide the benefit of fixed minimum wages to the workers in accordance with the changes in inflation.
This initiative of Yogi government will benefit the unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers working in industrial units, establishments and related scheduled employments. Under the revised rates, minimum monthly wages have been fixed according to the category of workers in different sectors.
Wages increased for all three categories of workers

Other districts: In the remaining districts of the state, the minimum monthly wage of unskilled workers has been increased from ₹ 12,356 to ₹ 12,530.25, of semi-skilled workers from ₹ 13,590 to ₹ 13,782.30 and of skilled workers from ₹ 15,224 to ₹ 15,438.42. With this, workers will get additional benefits of ₹ 174.25 to ₹ 214.42 every month.
Determination of allowance according to inflation
The variable dearness allowance payable to workers has been calculated on the basis of 431 points of the average All India Consumer Price Index from January to June 2026. Dearness allowance has been fixed keeping in mind the increase in the index above the pre-determined base level of 400 points. According to the government system, the daily rate of minimum wage will be determined in the ratio of 1/26 on the basis of monthly wage. Besides, protection of the interests of the employees who are already receiving higher wages has also been ensured. If an employee is getting higher wages as per the already fixed rates, the same will be continued.
Employers will have to follow the new rates
The Labor Department is expected to ensure payment of minimum wages to the workers employed in the concerned employers, industrial units and establishments as per the prescribed new rates. While making payment, the skill category of the worker and the rates applicable in the concerned area have to be kept in mind. This step of Yogi government is important towards revising the minimum wages of workers in line with inflation and ensuring protection of their interests. With the implementation of the new rates, workers working in the respective scheduled employments of the state will regularly receive the revised minimum monthly remuneration.
