Ayodhya, 28 August (HS). The construction work of divisional headquarters level B grade forensic science lab in Ramnagari Ayodhya is being given progress. After the approval of the project from the government, the responsibility of construction of this B grade forensic science lab, which is taking shape at a cost of 47 crores, has been handed over to the Public Works Department. The lab is being constructed near the railway station in the Teedi Bazaar area.
It is noteworthy that at present there is an office of a field unit of the district level regional research center in Ayodhya district. Experts and others have been deployed here but their legal responsibility is only to collect samples and send them to the concerned lab for testing. These people can provide practical help to the police in crime investigation, but the legal report is valid only from the lab. In such a situation, with the construction of B grade forensic science lab, except for a few ultra-modern investigations, most of the investigations will be possible here, which will not only save time and money, but also prompt reports can be obtained.
There will be a five storey building in 10266.40 square meters
The B grade forensic science lab is being constructed in Ramnagari in a total area of 10266.40 square meters. Whereas, the total land available with the department is 15220 square meters. The rest will be open space. Construction work is being completed on EPC mode in coordination with the technical cell of the Home Department and the Planning Department. According to the DPR prepared by UPPWD, the five-storey lab building will be located in 10266.40 square meters. In this, two-storey dormitory and guest house are being constructed in 395.90 square meters, garage and allied building in 250.20 square meters, messenger and guard room in 89 square meters, workshop in 42 square meters, electricity and pump room of more than 1000 kilowatt capacity in 51.50 square meters. Besides, construction works like 100 kilo litre capacity overhead tank, CC road, interlocking and boundary wall are being completed.
Land was acquired for forensic science laboratory six years ago
In the year 2017, a proposal was sent to the government by the department to establish a forensic science lab equipped with modern resources at the divisional headquarters. For this, 3.76 acres of land was taken near the international level railway station of Ramnagari on Vidyakund to Ranopali Road. However, the exercise of establishing the lab kept moving in government files. After the formation of Anti Narcotics Task Force to prevent drug smuggling and sale and consumption, consideration started to increase the number and scope of forensic science labs to reduce the burden of the labs. After this, the operation of B grade labs at six divisional headquarters including Ayodhya got the green signal.
The construction of the laboratory will be completed by May 17, 2025
Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department Construction (Section-II) Umesh Chandra said that the construction work of B grade forensic science lab has started from 7th November 2023. This construction is to be completed by 17th May 2025. So far 30 percent construction work has been completed. Establishment of the lab will provide quick and effective help in crime control and investigation, research and campaign against drugs. After the establishment of this lab, the sample will not have to be sent outside, which will ensure the way to save time and money.
